Starving cancer: Dominic D’Agostino at TEDxTampaBay

Enjoy this TEDx Talk with Dr. Dom D’Agostino on the impact of the Keto diet on Cancer. Dominic D’Agostino speaks about the impact on the oxygen breathers used by the Navy Diving Team and how trying to solve the problem of a worldwide disease has led to the discovery of more diseases.

Dr. D’Agostino is an Assistant Professor at the University of South Florida College Of Medicine, Molecular Pharmacology & Physiology where he develops and tests metabolic therapies, including alternative energy substrates and ketogenic agents for neurological disorders, cancer and wound healing.

While studying the effects of gasses on the brains of Navy Seal divers, he developed an approach for metabolically starving cancer cells through diet and compressed oxygen, replacing chemotherapy, surgery, or radiation. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience.

At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.
